Tech Tip: Searching for a Word on a Webpage

Have you been on a website that was cluttered with text? How do you find one specific word on that site? Well there is a way to search a webpage for a specific word or phrase. 

PC Users

Firefox:

  1. Click Edit at the top of the page
  2. Click Find
  3. A search bar will open up at the bottom of the screen
  4. Type the word you wish to find and hit Enter
  5. The page will be searched for that word or phrase
  6. Any matches will be highlighted

Internet Explorer:

  1. Click Edit at the top of the page
  2. Click Find on this Page
  3. A search bar will open up at the top of the screen
  4. Type the word you wish to find and hit Enter
  5. The page will be searched for that word or phrase
  6. Any matches will be highlighted

The keyboard shortcut for this action is Ctrl + F

Mac Users

Safari:

  1. Click Edit at the top of the page
  2. Click Find
  3. Click Find...
  4. A search bar will open up at the top of the screen
  5. Type the word you wish to find and hit Enter
  6. The page will be searched for that word or phrase
  7. Any matches will be highlighted

The keyboard shortcut for this action is Command + F
