Network Access

Access to the University computer network and its resources is restricted to those users with authorized University computer accounts and to those computers meeting the minimum hardware and software configuration requirement.

SHSU Local Area Network (LAN) access is granted to all users with an authorized SHSU computer account. Access to the network is provided via University-owned computers located in university offices, computer labs and via personally- owned computers in residence halls.

SHSU Local Area Network port access is granted to all users with an authorized SHSU computer account. Administrative port activation requests must be made by placing a Computer Services work order or by calling the Helpdesk at X41950. Residence Hall students may activate their ports online.

SHSU Wireless Network access is granted to all users with an authorized SHSU computer account. Access to this network is provided at specific locations across campus via personally owned wireless capable computers. Access to the Internet, University email and campus data storage areas is available on the wireless network.

SHSU Wide Area Network (WAN) access is granted to all users with an authorized SHSU computer account. Access to the Internet is provided over this high speed connection research and e-mail purposes.

SHSU provides telephone service, voice mail, and long distance services for the residence halls. You may locate telephone numbers through the SamInfo system.
