Day One Trip to England
Nancy on way to Hever Castle Horse Farm-very near Churchill's home
We had planned to go to Leeds Castle, but the guy at the car rental place encouraged us to switch our plans. We were flexible (or is that indecisive?) the whole way. We just stopped here to take a picture of the horses with blankets on them.  So this was on our first outing. The countryside was marvelous.  Driving on the wrong side added to the adventure.  Keep in mind I was doing this driving at what was for me 3 in the morning.  Since you all know I can't stay up late, this is exceptionally admirable.
Hever Castle.
Anne Boleyn lived here as a child.  Can you imagine growing up here?  Of course, can you imagine marrying a king, and being beheaded because you don't have a son?  Nope, me neither.

Streets of Canterbury, England Canterbury, England
We went shopping here in Canterbury. The buildings looked just the way I would have imagined them.  It was cold though!  I just HAD to buy a coat.  Oh well, the last time I bought a coat, I was married. It was probably time.  Even if I only use it when I go home to KY!
Canterbury Cathedral
This was built over 900 years ago. We got to tour it. I decided to get married here the next time.  Well----maybe not.  But wouldn't you like to attend a wedding here?

Not exactly a king-sized bed B& B Accommodations in Canterbury
Okay, it's not exactly king-sized, but considering how tired I was, it looked palatial to me. We didn't have reservations anywhere. We just roamed until we found someplace that looked okay.  This was within a couple of blocks of the Cathedral and shopping areas, so it worked out great.

We had a wonderful supper at a pub.  Wendy and Nina were totally adventurous having brie, pate and tarragon soup.  Naturally I had ham and cheddar.  Hey, at least I tried theirs!
