REGISTRATION/ADMINISTRATION FEE: A non-refundable, non-transferable registration/administration fee of $30.00 is charged to register for the THEA-QT. Students may register for a scheduled test date by coming to the Testing Center in Academic Building IV, Room 102, or registering online at www.shsu.edu/testing, paying the required registration/administration fee (check, money order, MasterCard, American Express, or Visa), and having their name placed on the testing list. If registering by mail, a check or money order (made payable to SHSU) or a credit card number and expiration date (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) must be sent along with a note indicating the examinee's name, address, social security number, requested date for testing, and phone number where the student can be reached. Registrations will be done on a first come-first served basis or until the testing room is full, whichever comes first.

3.

REPORTING TIME: Students need to report to the testing site no later than 7:45 a.m. on their scheduled testing date. A maximum of five hours of actual testing time is allowed once the timing of the test has begun. Examinees arriving for a test after 8:00 a.m. will not be allowed to begin testing and will not have their registration/administration fee refunded. Also, the registration/administration fee will not be transferable to another testing date.

4.

TEST FEE: There is a $29.00 test fee that is paid on the day of the test. This fee is separate from the registration/administration fee and must be paid by check or money order made payable to "NES" or by credit card (Visa or Mastercard). The THEA-QT will not be scored unless this test fee is returned with the test to the testing company.

5.

ITEMS NEEDED AND POLICIES CONCERNING FAMILY AND/OR FRIENDS: Students need to bring the following items on the day of the test: a current picture identification, a second form of ID (i.e. social security card, birth certificate, school ID, etc.) and the $29.00 test fee. Simple four-function, non-programmable calculators (with square root and percent keys) are optional (no graphing or scientific calculators will be allowed). ALSO, family and/or friends are not allowed to wait for an examinee while they are testing. They will be informed about am approximate time the examinee will finish testing and will be asked to return at that time to pick-up the examinee. If children are brought to the Testing Center and expected to wait until the examinee finishes testing the examinee will be refused their testing opportunity for that day. If they wish to reschedule for another testing date they will be required to pay the registration/administration fee again. Examinees will not be allowed to begin testing without proper identification and the $29.00 test fee and testing will not be delayed waiting for an examinee to present these items.

6.

CLASSES: Students may be limited in the courses they may register for until such time as they provide passing scores in all three sections of the test or have waivers or exemptions from portions of the test. Please check with the Registrar's Office (936/294-4280 or email them at ask.regstaff@shsu.edu) for further information concerning THEA scores, waivers, exemptions, developmental course requirements, and registration for classes.

7.

SCORES: Scores will be forwarded to the student and to the college(s) they listed on their answer document approximately 2 weeks after taking the THEA-QT. (Here at SHSU the scores do not come back to our Testing Center; scores are sent to the Registrar's Office. Please contact the Registrar's Office (936-294-4280 or email them at ask.regstaff@shsu.edu for additional information about scores, waivers, exemptions, etc. associated with the TSI requirements.)

8.

RETAKES: Students taking a THEA-QT must wait 30 days before attempting to retake the THEA-QT test at this or any other college/university. Students who retest before the 30-day limit will have their scores canceled and their money will not be refunded.
