I grew up in the Jersey Village/Cy-Fair area of Houston and am an alumna of SHSU.  In Houston I worked in Risk Management at an international oilfield service company, handling their global property/ casualty insurance claims and certificates of insurance.  My husband, Joe, and I bought 26 rural acres outside of Huntsville in 1991 and moved there in 2000.  I joined SHSU in 2004, working with Speech Communication and transferred to Sociology in June 2008.  I really enjoy working with Sociology and find it a friendly, challenging, and innovative department.

I am passionate about historic properties, and in 2005 instigated and lead the rural community of West Sandy (15 miles west of Huntsville) in the restoration of the San Jacinto School House, the last of its kind in Walker County.   Joe and I simplified our lives, moving into Huntsville in October 2007, and I was delighted when we bought a fully restored circa 1923 home in the Avenues.

I enjoy gardening, decorating, hanging out with our four “big dogs”, touring historic places, and driving our little red roadster (top down, hair blowing in the wind).
