Dr. Jin Young Choi
I was born Korea and immigrated to America where I went on to receive a master’s degree in Public Health and Sociology and Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
My research is focused on social inequality in health and healthcare, health behaviors, health policy, and community studies across different ethnic, cultural, and national boundaries using my multi-disciplinary trainings. Specialization areas include medical sociology, research methodology and statistics, and social epidemiology.
I have published and presented papers in both international and national academic journals and conferences. At SHSU, I teach various courses to both undergraduate and graduate students, including Introduction to Ethnic Studies, Sociology of Health and Illness, Research Methods in Sociology, Seminar in Sociological Research, and Applied Research Methods.
