Student Money Management Center

Command Your Cash!

It's more than a motto at the SHSU Money Management Center.

Our focus and the Mission of the Money Management Center is to improve the financial well-being of our students by providing the unbiased education, counseling, tools, and solutions students need in order to achieve financial independence.

Studies all over the country have shown that college students are coming into school with high debt levels and then increasing their debts even more throughout their education—not including student loans!  With this information and the growing awareness of the need for financial literacy, the Division of Student Services has created the Student Money Management Center.

As part of our educational outreach and programming, seminars are developed and presented based on the needs and feedback of our students.  We encourage the SHSU community to contact us if there is a particular program or seminar that they would like to see or feel is needed on campus. We welcome our students, faculty, and staff to play an active role in the development of programs and services for our center.

In the Spring 2009, the center plans to launch the availability to provide one-on-one financial consultations to help students develop a financial outlook and plan that is custom tailored to their personal needs.  During these confidential sessions, students will be able to be speak with a certified peer counselor or professional staff member—whichever they feel more comfortable with.

Welcome to your SHSU Money Management Center.  We look forward to helping you “Command Your Cash” and commit to controlling your financial life today and into the future.
