What is Living History?
Living History is a recreation or interpretation
of the past and is most effective when performed at or around the historic
site where an historic event actually occurred. Using historically accurate
costumes and artifacts, a living history interpretation can essentially
bring the past to life. The movement to strengthen living history as an
art form is expanding as more facilities see theater as a way to teach
and entertain.
Living History:
-
links us directly to our ancestors
-
helps us visualize what we read in books
-
helps correct misconceptions
-
is healing
-
talks back to us directly from the past.
