The Flags of the Republic

Texas has the distinction of being one of the few states in America that was an independent country and the only one recognized as a sovereign government by the United States, France and England.
But that independence, source of so much pride and confidence, was not won easily, and part of that story is told by these historic flags.
Only one original of these historic flags still exists, and now hangs in the State Capitol.
This series of limited edition replicas has been created by the Gallery of the Republic in Austin with the help of the State Archives, and is based on the eyewitness accounts of the men and women in Texas 150 years ago.
We hope you enjoy this insight into the lives of the early Texans, and that you will help rekindle the spirit of the Republic of Texas.
