What are Co-Curricular Activities?
These are your activities that you participate in outside of the classroom such as Student Government Association, community service, intermural sports, leadership, clubs and organizations, church involvement, athletics, etc.
When should I start the Co-Curricular Transcript process?
It is best to start the transcript process during your first year at SHSU to preserve the integrity of the document. The sooner a transcript is started after an activity has been completed, the more accurate the information it contains can be. Those who are further along in your education at Sam Houston State University should begin a co-curricular transcript as soon as possible, and try to be as accurate as possible when remembering back to activities started/completed before the creation of this document.
Can I list all my activities in my Co-Curricular Transcript?
Yes, you can list all of your co-curricular activities as long as they are were accomplished during your enrollment at Sam Houston State University. You may also include any awards you have earned while at Sam Houston State University.
Should I include employment opportunities on my Co-Curricular Transcript?
No. This transcript is designed to recognize and document co-curricular activities outside the realm of employment experiences. Employment experiences should be included on your resume.
When should entries be submitted?
Entry and Validation forms should be completed and submitted at the end of the semester or at the end of the SHSU activity you want added to your transcript.
What if I held more than one leadership position in an organization?
You should submit one Entry and Validation form for each position you hold in the organization.
What type of activities should be included on my Co-Curricular Transcript?
- Student Government Association, Organizations, and Activities. This may include participation or leadership roles in student activities or organizations.
- Professional or Education Development Activities. This includes participation in any co-curricular learning experience such as workshops, seminars, conferences, training programs or volunteer experience related to personal or professional development.
- Honors, Awards and Recognitions. Any type of formal recognition given to you individually.
- Community Activities and Service. Participation in any community service or volunteer activities of any duration.
- EXCEL workshops that you participate in.
Who can validate my entries?
The Co-Curricluar Transcript Office will review your entries and verify that all information is accurate. Once validation of the entry is confirmed, the activity will be permanently entered on your Co-Curricular Transcript for the duration of your time at SAM.
What if I do not have a verifying official's contact information for a past activity or organization?
The contact information is optional, so if the information is known, please include it on the form for faster verification. The Co-Curricular Transcript Office reserves the right to contact students for the purpose of obtaining more information on the activity in question.
Who do I contact if I have a question or need assistance with the Co-Curricular Transcript?
