B.O.L.D. Leadership Program:
Mission Statement
The mission of the Bearkat Ongoing Leadership Development series (BOLD) is to provide effective leadership training to Sam Houston State University students which complements their academic curriculum and allows for development of the whole student. Through emphasis on three areas, emergence, diversity, and spirituality of leadership, students will gain self-knowledge and confidence and experience a more complete education.
Goals
- Sponsor at least three workshops each academic year, each focusing on a different aspect of leadership (emerging leader, diversity and leadership, and spirituality and leadership)
- Develop participants' understanding of leadership concepts and characteristics, emphasizing that everyone has the potential to become a better leader, a strong candidate for jobs after graduation, and a well-rounded, contributing member of society.
- Assess participants' leadership skills, assist in setting personal goals and provide a means of evaulating personal growth and development.
- Establish a strong base of leaders who will utilize their abilities to contribute to the betterment of SHSU, the community and the world.
