Frequently Made Mistakes
-
Employment! A job you get paid for is
not considered a co-curricular activity. You may add this job
to your resume.
-
If you are given an award
each semester, create an entry for each semester that award
is given to you. If you are given an award for the year, you
man include the fall and the spring in your entry.
-
You may update your entries
each semester to include all the semesters you participate in
your co-curricular activity. You do not need a separate entry
for each semester you participate in your co-curricular activity.
-
Intramural sports do
count as co-curricular activities.
-
NO ACRONOYMS! You may
know what your organization letters stand for, but others may
not. (This includes SHSU)
-
Enter your membership
as one entry and your position as officer as another for the
same organization. This way you have a record of your membership
in the organization, as well as a separate record of your officer
position.
-
Any volunteer work you do may
be put on your co-curricular transcript.
-
When listing contact information to verify
your involvement in an activity or organization, list the name
and phone number or email address of someone other than yourself.
Leaving contact information blank or listing yourself makes
verification of activities much more difficult to complete and
slows down the verification process.
