| Alpha Lambda Delta |
Alpha Lambda Delta was founded at the University of Illinois in 1924 specifically to honor excellent academic achievement by students in their first year of study in higher education. |
| Freshman Leaders |
The freshman Leadership Program is an innovative and challenging
leadership preparation program, which is offered to select
entering freshman that have demonstrated a high level of leadership
activity in high school, maintained an outstanding academic
record, and display the potential to attain student leadership
positions at SHSU. |
| Orange Keys |
Originally founded in 1959, the members of Orange Keys
have served as ambassadors of SHSU for 48 years. The 15
students who are selected as Orange Keys represent the top
strata of our student body membership. |
| SHSU Parents’ Association |
The SHSU Parents’ Association provides a vital link between parents of students and the Sam Houston campus. This organization keeps parents and other interested parties informed about campus issues and events, participates in university programs throughout the year, and awards scholarships to deserving students each semester. |

The Dean of Students' Office represents the student's needs to the University administration, faculty, and various departments. Staff will assist students who have questions about any phase of campus life.
The department, in an effort to promote individual and group development of students, co-sponsors educational programs and leadership activities.
