Appointments

Legal consultations are conducted by appointment, privately, in person. To make an appointment for legal consultation with an attorney:

Please fill out our appointment request form and we will contact you to arrange a time. Once the information is provided, you may also call our office at 936-294-1717 to arrange an appointment.

Once your appointment is scheduled

• All consultations are in the Student Legal Services office is located in the Lowman Student Center in Room 330.
• You must bring your Bearkat One Card so that we can verify your identity and enrollment status.
• Please bring all relevant documents concerning your legal issues with you to your appointment. Relevant documents include: traffic ticket(s), ordinance violation ticket(s), papers related to your arrest, lease(s), letters, contracts or anything else you consider relevant. If possible, arrive a few minutes early so the attorney has an opportunity to review your documents.

Please know

• All student information is gathered and treated confidentially by all personnel.
• We address only the personal legal issues of Sam Houston State University students who are currently enrolled.
• We cannot consult on matters involving Sam Houston State University or disputes between students attending Sam Houston State University.
• We provide consultation, but do not provide legal representation or document preparation.

Cancellation Policy

This office recognizes that unexpected issues or events take place that prevent the student from attending their appointment. Clients are expected to call the office at 936-294-1717 as soon as possible to cancel their appointment so that other students can be served at that time. Students who fail to cancel more than one appointment may become ineligible for further services for the remainder of the semester.
