THE BEST WAY TO CHOOSE YOUR MAJOR IS TO TAKE A VARIETY OF COURSES Although simple enrollment in courses may help a student make a decision, it is not the most effective or efficient way to choose a major. This is especially true if one is in the exploratory process. For example, enrolling in courses just to learn about the subject area of the major to eliminate potential majors will take a great deal of time (and money). In the end a student may only have eliminated a major and not selected one. An additional problem which could arise is that a student ends up intrested in several areas which can result in more indecision. If this approach is appealing, a lot more can be learned about major areas by browsing required textbooks, syllabi, or even sitting in on several classes before deciding whether or not to enroll.
