WHEN YOU SELECT A MAJOR, YOU SELECT A CAREER Although it is true that some majors (e.g.) Computer Science or Nursing provide training specific to certain careers, most do not. Choosing one does not mean you have chosen the other. It has been shown by the College Placement Council that ten years following graduation, most individuals have successful careers that are not even directly connected to their undergraduate majors. The same logic applies to professional schools such as medicine, business, law, or dentistry. While some professional schools require or recommend the completion of academic prerequisites, in most cases they are not required. Therefore, you may major in a variety of academic fields and go to various prefessional schools or graduate programs.
