ONCE YOU CHOOSE A MAJOR YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT

Not true. It is normal to experience uncertainty about your choices. The majority of students, up to 80%, who have declared their major, are uncertain about their choice (Mauer & Gysbers, 1990). You are not alone if you experience hesitancy and indecisiveness regarding the selection of your major. In addition, your choice is not set in stone. It is entirely acceptable to change your major. It is estimated that 50% of students change their major before graduating with some changing their major more than once (American College Testing Program, 1996).
