Student Advising & Mentoring Center

Mentoring Award 2012-2013

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, one SHSU student and one faculty/staff member will be awarded with $1,000 each for their commitment to a mentoring relationship in the 2012-2013 academic year.  To nominate a mentor or mentee (student), see the guidelines below.  Submissions will be accepted via e-mail only through April 1, 2013.

Mentoring Award Registration Form

 

To nominate your MENTOR:
Eligibility:

• A recipient must have been a mentor to students for two long semesters at SHSU
• A recipient must be nominated by the student they mentored

Essays:

• No longer than one page in length
• Typed using Times New Roman, 12 pt., double spaced

 Items taken into consideration by the selection committee:

• How your mentor has gone above and beyond their regular call of duty
• How has this relationship with your mentor affected your personal growth outside of the classroom

 

To nominate your STUDENT (mentee):
Eligibility:

• A recipient must have been mentored by a faculty/staff member for a minimum of one long semester at SHSU
• A recipient must be nominated by their mentor

Essays:

• No longer than one page in length
• Typed using Times New Roman, 12 pt., double spaced

Items taken into consideration by the selection committee:

• What makes your student unique?
• Does your student give back in some way?
• How have you seen your student grow as a result of your mentoring? 

 

A program honoring all nominees will be held at the end of April, with details to be announced. 

This is a one year award.  In order for a recipient to receive this award in subsequent years, they must be nominated for each year and be selected as the best candidate.
