Voluntary Intervention Program (VIP)
Are you in need of academic help? Come to the SAM Center and ask for a mentor. After determining your individual needs, mentors will work with you until you reach your academic goals.
In addition to helping you talking with you about our 6-week group study skills series, mentors may review study skills strategies and encourage you to seek out tutoring as well as talk to your professors. Twice a semester, you'll also be encouraged to submit a grade check form, which serves as an official grade report from each professor. This allows mentors to monitor your academic performance and implement any new strategies as necessary.
The strategies mentioned here are just a few ways our mentors can help you. They are also knowledgeable about a wealth of resources available to you here at SHSU that you may not know about. Mentors can also help you solve specific academic challenges.
