DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS! Selecting a major boils down to a decision making process. Decisions are based upon information - the more information you have, the better your decision making is. Develop a list of possible majors and/or careers that appeal to you. Do not let this process overwhelm you - remember that selecting a major does not determine your life-long career and once you have chosen a major, it does not mean that you are stuck with it. Most majors are meant to be flexible in the job market, so keep in mind that while you are in college you work for the degree and once you graduate, the degree works for you! There are resources at your fingertips to help you with this process. Academic advisors are available to keep you on track during your college experience to ensure that you have the academics to complete your degree. Assessment programs are offered through the SAM Center, Counseling Center and Career Services that can validate your choice of major and career aspirations.
Whenever you make a statement about yourself, you define yourself both to others and, ultimately and most importantly, to yourself.
