Dess Meek won the gold medal in the high jump at the NCAA Division I regional championships Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska to earn a spot in the national championships in Des Moines, IA, June 11-14.
Meek cleared 5 feet, 11.5 inches on her second attempt to earn the title. Nebraka's Epley Bullock finished as runner-up, clearing 5 feet, 11.5 inches on her third attempt. Both missed on all three of their tries at the next height.
Meek came into the regional competition with a qualifying mark of 5 feet, 8 inches and finished in second place at the Southland Conference Tournament in Huntsville.
