HUNTSVILLE- The Aggies powered four homeruns over the outfield fence at Don Sanders Stadium on their way to a 13-9 victory over Sam Houston on Tuesday (May 6).
Sam Houston baseball record home crowd of 1,821 watched the game where the Aggies totaled 22 hits off nine Bearkat pitchers as they upped their season record to 41-8. SHSU, who now stands 30-20 for the year, totaled 14 hits.
The Bearkats jumped out to a 3-0 lead and took advantage of some key hitting to get the fans into it early. A&M's Luke Anders, though, tied the game at three in the fourth inning with a homerun That began a string of 13 unanswered runs to make it 13-3 Aggies going to the bottom of the 9th.
Sam Houston got 6 runs on 6 hits to make it a game. The Kats used 9 pitchers in the game. No pitcher faced more than 8 batters. The team has two more series left before the conference tournament beginning with a three-game set on the road in Hammond, Louisiana against Southeastern Louisiana.
