Commissioners Table Resolution

The phrase Trans-Texas Corridor continues to stir up Walker County residents. Hundreds have voiced their opposition to the highway that would cut through part of the county. And several hundred more attended the Walker County Commissioner's court meeting Monday to continue their opposition.

The court decided to table a resolution in order to further research how the highway would benefit the county. According to the proposal the commission would coordinate with other governmental units that have similar needs. They will use that information to plan for the rapidly growing population of the state and the needs of governmental units.

The commission would also make recommendations on a list of other projects from transportation studies... to land use. According to the Walkercounty District Attorney, this commission will create more bureaucracy
