Welcome to the Office of Research and Sponsored Program’s (ORSP’s) Training page. Over the course of the new year (2010-2011), this office will sponsor several workshops to address the following areas:
- IRB Training: Please refer to either the IRB Training page within this portion of the Web site or the Human Subjects link on the main page under Instruction Manuals and Training
- PIVOT Funding Opportunities includes funding opportunities from all disciplines including arts and humanities, medicine, social sciences and sciences. It is one of the most comprehensive databases of funding from government and private sources. For those who are new to PIVOT Funding Opportunities, please click on the link above and visit the New! PIVOT User Training. We encourage each of you to review the training webinars so that you can become familiar with this most useful tool for finding funding opportunities. Also, you may review the Your Guide to PIVOT Funding Opportunities. Since many will be new to PIVOT Funding Oppotunities, ORSP will be offering workshops throughout the 2011-2012 academic year. We encourage each of you to attend at least one of these sessions.
- Ethics in Research: Please click on the following link to navigate to the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Web site in order to register and complete the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) course: RCR Course (offered by CITI)
- Grant writing workshops: these are intended to offer a step-by-step guide to writing powerful grant proposals; plus they are intended to help explain the grant process and any new policies/procedures concerning this process
Please note that as dates for these workshops become available, they will be posted immediately to the Web site under their respective link. The dates will also appear in GrantScope, the ORSP newsletter. For additional information regarding training, or if you would like to request any information be offered at one of the aforementioned workshops, please contact Sharla Miles at (936) 294-4875 or you can email her at sharla_miles@shsu.edu.
