The mission of the Office of Research and Special Programs (ORSP)at Sam Houston State University is to promote all aspects of research and other creative endeavors at this institution. This goal includes the development and implementation of research and scholarly activities, helping to find resources to support this activity, creating policies to provide an environment conducive to scholarship, and promoting the importance and visibility of the institution's research activities.
To accomplish this mission, ORSP provides expertise and guidance to faculty, staff, and students to facilitate the accomplishment of their scholarly goals. This office helps with many aspects of the scholarly endeavor including grant proposal preparation and submission, compliance, use of humans and animals in research, and the dissemination of results. We are eager to help the SHSU community in their scholarly efforts.

The application deadlines for the Faculty Enhancement Grants (EGR) and the Faculty Research Grants (FRG) have been moved to October 15, 2008 and October 29, 2008 respectively. This move was necessitated by the delays that might have been caused by Hurricane Ike.
