Residence halls open for occupancy, 11:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
January 13, 14
MONDAY, TUESDAY:
  • Registration for undergraduate and graduate students - refer to schedule of classes for details.
  • Last day to process a resignation (dropping all courses) with a 100% refund by 5PM in the Registrar's Office.
January 15
WEDNESDAY:
  • Daytime on-campus classes begin.
  • Wednesday Night (WN) classes begin (on-campus and off-campus).
  • Late Registration, process class schedule changes. Refer to schedule of classes for details and deadlines.
January 16
THURSDAY:
 Thursday Night (ThN) classes begin (on-campus and off-campus).
January 17
FRIDAY:
 Friday Night (FN) classes begin (on-campus and off-campus).
January 18
SATURDAY:
Saturday classes begin (on-campus and off-campus).
January 20
MONDAY:
 University Holiday - Martin Luther King Day.
January 21
TUESDAY:
 Tuesday Night (TuN) classes begin (on-campus and off-campus).

FRIDAY:
  • Twelfth Class Day.
  • Last day to drop without a "Q" and receive 100% refund (This does not apply to dropping your only course - see resignation policy in schedule of classes).
  • Degree applications to be filed in Registrar's Office by students graduating in May 2014.
March 7
FRIDAY:
  • Last day to submit draft thesis/dissertation to Library for format and style review.
  • Residence halls close at 6:00 P.M. for spring recess.
March 10, 11, 12, 13, 14
MONDAY, THROUGH, FRIDAY:
Spring recess for students and faculty.
March 13
THURSDAY:
Last day for Criminal Justice 7½-week students to resign (drop last/only course) with 100% refund.
March 16
SUNDAY:
Residence halls open at 2:00 P.M.
March 17
MONDAY:
  • Classes resume at 8:00 A.M.
  • First class day for Criminal Justice 7½-week students.
March 18
TUESDAY:
Late registration for Criminal Justice 7½-week students closes at 11:59 P.M. on MySam.
March 20
THURSDAY:
Last day for Criminal Justice 7½-week students to resign (drop last/only course) with 80% refund.
March 21
FRIDAY:
Last day for Criminal Justice 7½-week students to receive 100% refund for dropping one class (not your only class).
March 22
SATURDAY:
"Q" drop begins (dropping one course, not all courses) for Criminal Justice 7½-week students
March 26
WEDNESDAY:
Last day for Criminal Justice 7½-week students to resign (drop last/only course) with 50% refund.
March 28
FRIDAY:
  • Last day to complete a public defense of the thesis/dissertation.
  • Last day to drop a spring course or lab with a "Q."
April 9
WEDNESDAY:
Last day to submit complete, defended and signed thesis/dissertation the appropriate academic dean's office.
April 11
FRIDAY:
  • Last day to submit final thesis/dissertation (defended and signed) and Route Sheet to the Director of the Library.
  • Last day for Criminal Justice 7½-week students to "Q" drop.
April 18
FRIDAY:
  • Good Friday, holiday for students and faculty.
  • Last day to make all final copies of thesis/dissertation and submit to the NGL for binding.
  • Last day to submit Route Sheet to the Dean of Graduate Studies.
April 28
MONDAY:
One-hour science lab finals begin.
May 2
FRIDAY:
Last class day. Last day to resign by 5:00 PM in the Registrar's Office.(SEE NOTES BELOW)
May 5, 6, 7, 8
MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY:
Final examinations [includes Monday Night (MN), Tuesday Night (TuN), Wednesday Night (WN) and Thursday Night (ThN) final examinations].
May 9
FRIDAY:
Residence halls close at 12:00 noon.
May 9, 10
FRIDAY, SATURDAY:
Commencement, Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
May 12
MONDAY:
12:00 Noon Deadline for filing grades with the Registrar's Office. Spring Semester ends.

RESIGNATION NOTE:

A resignation is when a student drops all of their currently enrolled courses. Students who resign before the 12th class day will not have any indication in their official transcript. Students who resign beginning the 13th class day until the deadline posted in the academic calendar will have a "W" grade. However, if a final exam has been given for any course or lab you will not be permitted to resign.
