Your SHSU ID or Recreational Sports Membership card is your
"key" to all the Recreational Sports facilities and programs.
Your ID will be required for entry into the HKC and swimming
pools. You may also be asked to show your ID at other facilities
during "ID Checks" by student supervisors. It's important
to keep your ID with you at all times and not give it to others
to use.
If you lose or forget your SHSU ID or Recreational Sports
Membership card, you can be issued a Courtesy Pass. To be
issued a Courtesy Pass, the participant must come to the Recreational
Sports Office and present a photo ID. Each participant will
be allowed 2 Courtesy Passes each semester.
Students
Students may use the Recreational Sports facilities during
the normal operational hours that do not conflict with departmental
programs or academic classes. This includes both graduate
and undergraduate students. A current activated SHSU ID card
is required when entering a facility or activity area. A continuing
student is one who is not currently enrolled for the summer
semester but is registered for the fall semester. Verification
of completion of the immediate preceding semester is required
to purchase this pass. A active Recreation Facility Pass and
photo identification must be presented for admittance to the
facilities. This pass covers all program areas of Recreational
Sports.
Student Spouse
Spouses of students are eligible to purchase a "Spouse Pass"
from Recreational Sports. The Recreation Facility Pass may
only be purchased for the semester when the sponsoring student's
ID is activated. At the time of purchase, a current photo
ID plus proof of marriage must be presented. This pass also
entitles the spouse to participate in CO-Rec Intramural activities
with their husband/wife. A active "Spouse Pass" and photo
ID must be presented to enter facilities, activity areas or
participate in programs.
Faculty/Staff
Full-time SHSU faculty/staff are eligible to use all the
Rec Sports facilities at no additional cost. A current faculty/staff
ID must be presented in order to gain admittance to a facility
or activity area.
Faculty/Staff Spouse
Spouses of Faculty/Staff are eligible to purchase a "Spouse
Pass" from Recreational Sports. The Recreation Facility Pass
may be purchased for the semester or on an annual basis. At
the time of purchase, a current photo ID plus proof of marriage
must be presented. This pass also entitles the spouse to participate

Faculty/Staff Retired and Spouse
Employees who have retired from SHSU are considered eligible
users of Recreational Sports Facilities. A Recreation Facility
Pass will be issued to retired Faculty/Staff free of charge.
Spouses of retired Faculty/Staff are eligible to purchase
a spouse pass for one semester or on an annual basis.
Family Membership
The SHSU community is eligible to purchase a Facility Family
Membership. The membership restricts usage to only weekend
use during the fall and spring semesters and no restrictions
during the summer months.
May 15 - August 15.
Children (17 years of age and younger and living at home)
are eligible to use the Recreational Sports facilities as
a guest. While using the Health and Kinesiology Center, children
must be under the direct supervision of their sponsor at all
times. While using the swimming pools, children under 12 years
of age must be accompanied by, and under the direct supervision
of an adult (18 years or older).
There are age limits for specific areas of the HKC. Children
must be 12 years of age or older to use the indoor track and
aerobics area and 16 years of age or older to use the weight
room areas.
The charge for children (17 years and younger and living
at home) to use the Health and Kinesiology Center is $5.00.
Family passes are available for use of the pools. Without
a pass, the charge for use of the pools is $5.00 per guest
per day.
Student, faculty, and staff will be asked to sign a "release"
acknowledging their awareness of the risks involved in their
child's participation in activities in SHSU Recreational Sports
facilities.
Young Adult
Dependents 18-24 years old and still living with their parents
may purchase a Young Adult Pass for limited facility access.

Faculty/Staff Desceased-Spouse
A spouse of a deceased faculty or staff member of SHSU may
purchase a pass through the Recreational Sports Office. By
presenting a active Recreation Facility Pass and photo identification
(driver's license), the pass holder may enter a facility or
activity area.
Alumni Pass
An alumnus / alumna that is a current member of the SHSU
Alumni Association and holds a minimum of a "Century Club"
level membership card may purchase an annual Alumni Facility
Usage Pass for all Recreational Sports Facilities.
Alumni Spouse
The spouse of an alumnus / alumna is eligible to purchase
a Recreational Sports Facility Usage Pass, if the spouse is
a current member of the SHSU Alumni Association, holds a "Century
Club" level membership card or greater, and has purchased
a Recreational Sports Alumni Pass.
Guests
Students, Faculty/Staff, and all SHSU Recreation Facility
Pass cardholders as described above may sponsor two (2) guests
per day by purchasing daily passes for use of recreational
sports facilities. While using the facilities, the guest must
be accompanied by the sponsor. A current photo ID. is required
of both sponsor and guest in order for a Guest Pass to be
purchased and for admittance to the facility or activity areas.
Courtesy Pass
Participants who forget or lose their Sam Houston ID or Recreation
Facility Pass can be issued a Courtesy Pass. To be issued
a Courtesy Pass, the participant must come to the Recreational
Sports office and present a photo ID. Each participant will
be allowed only 2 Courtesy Passes each semester.
Special Groups
Camp, conference, and workshop participants as well as University
Hotel guests 19 years and older may purchase a Recreation
Facility Pass allowing use of the Recreational Sports facilities.
Photo identification and a registration or ID badge verifying
conference registration must be presented to purchase a pass.
Hotel guests must present their key card and photo ID. The
participant must present the Recreation Facility Pass and
photo ID for admittance to a facility or activity area. The
fee for a Hotel/Conference Pass is $5.00/day.
***All Recreation Facility Passes may be purchased in the
Recreational Sports Office, HKC Rm. 162. Please bring the
appropriate identification.*** |
