The Philosophy Program is developing a "Working Group on Moral Psychology, Democracy, Rights and Applied Ethics"

This is a newly developed interdisciplinary research group that explores the intersection between ethics and other disciplines. We are focusing on the three following topics:

1. Rights and international relationships

2. Moral psychology, an interdisciplinary approach to ethics that uses both philosophy and psychology to investigate the empirical claims about human psychology presupposed by competing perspectives on ethical theory

3. Applied ethics, an ethical perspective on a variety of contemporary issues such as end of life care, abortion, death penalty, animal ethics, attention etc.

As part of this research initiative we are currently holding a series of lectures where faculty present their research, members and non-members are welcomed to attend these lectures!

The next talk will be on Tuesday May 1st at 3:30 PM, CHSS room 330.  Carol Gardosik be presenting her paper:

"Initial Thoughts on the Replication of the Clackmannanshire Study of Philosophy for Children and Its Connections with Aristotle's Virtue Theory".
