Residence Renovation

Maintaining our existing Residence facilities is another important step we are taking to make sure that Sam Houston State has adequate housing for our students. These $3.45 Million in renovations, as you will see from the descriptions of the work, are much needed routine maintenance.

SORORITY HILL RENOVATION

"The Hill" consists of eight houses, four of which are sorority houses. Anne Shaver and Gibbs are coed, while Houston and Rachel Jackson are reserved for male and female students, respectively. Stewart House is a female-only facility. The sorority houses are Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Sigma Sigma Sigma and Zeta Tau Alpha. Each house is staffed with a resident advisor, and supervised by resident manager Brandi Bowen, who lives in Anne Shaver. Houses on the "Hill" will be closed over the summer semester to address a number of issues. Full renovation will be made on six of the buildings. That includes replacement of carpeting, fresh paint throughout, air conditioning and heating upgrades and electrical upgrading. Only air conditioning and heating and electrical upgrades will be done in the Houston and Anne Shaver houses.
