Southland Conference Basketball Playoffs from Paul Ridings, Sports Information
Game time for the semifinals will be 7 p.m. Winners of the two semifinal playoff games will meet in the SLC tournament finals on Friday, March 14. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN2 cable sports network. The tournament winner will earn the Southland Conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Championships 64-team tournament. The Southland tournament finals will be played at the home arena of the highest seeded semifinal winner. Sam Houston State can wrap up the number one seed in the Southland Conference Post Season Tournament by winning their final three regular season games. The Bearkats currently stand in first place in the SLC race with a 15-2 record. The NCAA Championships first round playoffs will be held Thursday and Friday, March 20-21. First round sites will be Tampa, FL; Boston, MA; Birmingham, AL; Indianapolis, IN; Nashville, TN; Oklahoma City, OK; Salt Lake City, UT; and Spokane, WA. First round opponent for the eventual Southland Conference tournament champion will be announced on Sunday afternoon, March 16, on the CBS-TV NCAA Selection Day special. |

Conference Post-Season Tournament bye and the right to host one of the
two SLC Tournament semifinal games to be played Wednesday, March 12.
