Academic Building IVAcademic Building IV (AB IV)

Academic Building IV is the first major general classroom facility to open on the Sam Houston State University Campus since the the Lee Drain Building in 1985.

The new 61,070 square foot, four story building at Bowers (20th) and Avenue I replaced five departmental dormitories that once housed students. This $8 M construction project was approved by the Board of Regents August 1999.

It is now home to the history, psychology and philosophy, and library science departments, as well as the SAM Center (Student Advising and Mentoring Center), state of the art classrooms and a fully stocked Student Computer Lab.

On the first floor of AB IV you will find the testing, honors, and scholarship offices along with one honors classroom. The S.A.M. Center, Computer Services, a computer lab, the Dr. James S. Olson 286-seat auditorium and classrooms are located on the second floor.

The library science department, psychology and philosophy department office, and classrooms are now on the third floor, as well as psychology faculty offices. The history department and philosophy faculty offices are on the fourth floor.
