Message from the Director of Graduate Studies:

Welcome to the Department of Political Science Graduate web page. We hope this page can answer the questions of prospective and current students. We offer two graduate degrees in political science–Master of Arts and Master of Public Administration. Both degrees offer a wide range of employment opportunities in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. We have a graduate faculty that is renowned in their field and very interested in students and teaching.

Our programs have many benefits. All of our graduate classes are offered at night at The University Ce Graduate Students Presenting nter in The Woodlands, thus accommodating the working student. Our graduate classes are small and interactive. Students have opportunities to get to know their professors and make long lasting friendships with other students.

Professor helping student

Many of our faculty have grants or are working on personal research projects. Students have opportunities to work on projects with faculty. Students often have opportunities to receive funding while working with faculty.

ASPA Lecture

Students are encouraged to submit paper proposals to professional conferences. Many of our students have had their papers accepted at these conferences and have presented them.

Dinner with POL

Faculty often socialize with students, either after class or at conferences, or invite them to lunch. These activities foster friendships and bonds between faculty and students.

Graduate with family

Our students complete their course of study in a timely fashion. Students can often graduate within 1 ½ to 2 ½ years of beginning the program. A diploma can be hanging on your wall in no time at all!
