Dr. Callaway 's primary area of research is in the field human rights, particularly the relationship between globalization and human rights conditions. In addition, she has begun to examine the role human rights conditions play infomenting terrorist activity. She has co-authored and published several articles on the influence of trade on the realization of human rights in the developing world. She is also an editor and contributor of a forthcoming book on essential readings in human rights. Her additional research interest s include the motivations and consequences of American foreign policy as well as the pursuit of human security in a globalized international system .
