FALL INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE
* Financial Assistance Available
Applying:
* Application forms are available here.
* Completed applications should be submitted to Mike Yawn, care of Peggy Ellenberger, in AB1, 315. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
* As a Political Science intern, students will be representing the university and the department. Accepting an internship is a commitment--a commitment to fulfilling the required hours in a professional manner. Students who are selected for an internship and perform poorly may be terminated by their intern agency or by the intern coordinator and will receive a failing grade for the course.

In addition to internships, the Political Science department at SHSU offers a number of opportunities for students to learn outside the classroon, including study abroad programs, field trips, and a junior fellow program.
Fall Internships:
Intern placements are made on the following criteria: GPA, Academic Record, interview with internship coordinator, prior work experience, letters of recommendation, and professionalism. When funds permit, the department may distribute scholarships for interns. In addition to the crtieria listed above, the department will place great emphasis on the student's financial need and the cost of living where the intern is placed.
We generally have internships available with the following employers:
Interested students should contact Mike Yawn by email at pol_rmy@shsu.edu.
Before applying for an internship position--or graduating--students should visit Career Services at SHSU. They offer free workshops for your career, which include resume & cover letter help, interviewing tips, and job search assistance. I strongly recommend their services and, in fact, I often require students go through their office before I will help a student with employment or an internship position.
