Directions and Requirements for Letters of Recommendation

1) To be considered for a letter of recommendation, students must have taken at least one class with me. If they have taken one class, then they must have made an A. If they have taken two classes, they need to have made an A and B or better. If a student has taken more than two classes with me, s/he must have at least a 3.5 GPA in my classes. While such criteria do not guarantee that I will write a letter, they are the minimum requirements.

2) If the student meets the requirement above, I will need the following prior to writing a letter of recommendation:

• Official paperwork relating to standardized test score. Official documents relating to GMAT, GRE, LSAT, and other standardized scores must be provided prior to writing a letter of recommendation for a graduate program.
• A 1-2 paragraph biography of the student describing extracurricular activities, work history, and other background items about which I might not be aware.
• A comprehensive and professional resume.
• Other documents may be requested as needed.
• In addition, a FERPA waiver will need to be signed prior to me writing a letter of recommendation.
