History

The Student Pagan Association was founded at Sam Houston State University in the Fall of 1999. Despite somewhat turbulent beginnings, we have persisted year to year. At any given time, we have between 5 and 15 members...sometimes more. I would like to know more about the history of our organization, but very few records were kept and it appears as if we have never really ever had a historian. If you have any stories or information you would like to share, please let us know.

Past Events:

The Monster Smash - In order to raise funds for our rather small organization, we purchased a non-functional car from a friend of a friend. We then gutted it to salvage valuable parts and to remove any dangerous elements. To my amazement, the school gave us permission to hold a car smashing event in the mall area next to the LSC on Halloween. I think we were the first...and more than likely the last organization to be allowed to do such a thing. In addition to disturbing all the classes in the vicinity and helping our fellow students release some pent-up aggression, we also managed to raise around $120.00 or so for our group.

Born into Brothels Fundraiser - Unfortunately, we weren't able to advertise as much as we needed to for this event and we had very few people attend, i.e. our friends showed up to keep us company and we didn't even bother showing the film.

Divination Booths - Last year, some of our members volunteered to run a divination booth in the mall area. They managed to raise quite a bit of money for our organization by doing this and we would like to continue doing them this year. Now we just need to find the necessary volunteers.
