About Us
Just a little overview!

Why:

The Sam Houston Anime Society has been created for three purposes. The first purpose is to establish a community for aficionados of anime, or Japanese animation. Members will be given the opportunity to meet fellow anime fans and socialize, network, and share their enjoyment of anime and of Japanese culture. The second purpose is to provide a creative outlet for anime artists and writers at SHSU. Members will be able to showcase their art and stories to a constructive, interested audience. The third purpose is to foster an appreciation of Japanese popular culture. Members will learn about Japanese culture and will interact with persons from different cultures. The Sam Houston Anime Society was created with the hope that international students will play a large part in the organization.

Who:

The club was set up to offer those who are interested in Japanese animation an opportunity to meet others like them. This is one of the only anime clubs in this area. Sam Houston Anime Society is joined by the University of Houston and Texas A&M Aggieme. We meet each week to view classical titles as well as newer titles (many never before seen in the United States).

When:

In 1997, a group of students, drawn by their mutual interest in Japanese anime, formed the Sam Houston Anime Society. We've evolved a little over the years and gained some new faces but the focus has stayed the same: appreciation of anime. This society is maintained today by a growing constituent.
