Chapter Herstory

THE KOLD-BLOODED KAPPA MU CHAPTER

The Kold-Blooded Kappa Mu chapter was founded on the campus of Sam Houston State University in 1984 by seven distinguished women. As a service organization, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is dedicated to serving the campus and students of Sam Houston State University, as well as the entire community. There are many programs and projects the chapter participates in annually.

Programs

Aids Awareness - A program to provide students with important awareness information and a chance to get free AIDS tests.
Sigma Rhoses Mentor Program - A program to help incoming freshmen and transfer students adjust to college life.
Greek Game Shows - A program for all fraternities and sororities to compete in mini versions of popular television game shows. We have done family feud and weakest link.
Rhoyal Blue and Gold Talent Extravaganza - A program to give students an opportunity to share their talents and earn prizes.
Annual Spring Yard Show- A program which allows members of fraternities and sororities to participate in a step-off.

Community Service Projects

Elementary Mentor Program - A project for members provide leadership and guidance to local elementary school students on a regular basis.
Good Shepard Mission - A project for members to provide assistance to needy people in the community.
Animal Shelter - A project for members to volunteer at the local animal shelter and assist in the care of the animals.
Annual Baby Shower-A project to collect baby items for the Huntsville Parenting Program. It can be done in the form of a party or other type of event.
