Spencer Copeland is a Senior Criminal Justice Major Sociology Minor at Sam Houston State University. He born into an Air Force family and has moved with his parents his entire live. Since attending SHSU in the Fall of 2012 he has worked his way through the Student Government Association. He has served as Caucus Chair for the College of Criminal Justice and the Department of University Affairs before becoming President. His work during his tenure in SGA have included increasing representation for Criminal Justice Students, establishing annual Safety Walks on campus, the creation of a Safety Report that has led to numerous improvements on campus, and working to improve the efficiency and image of the Student Government Association. He is excited to continue working for the Student Body until his term ends on May 31, 2015
Member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, President of Remain Calm, and member of SGA for 3 years. Very active on campus with helping our returning veterans, and all disabled students on campus. Averages about 1000 hours a year in community service. Hopes to use the knowledge gained here at Sam Houston to go to work at the Veterans Hospital in Houston and specialize in PTSD. Also is a member of The American Legion Post 95 here in HUntsville and works tirelessly with Operation K9, a group that trains PTSD service dogs for returning vets.
