PSI CHI & The Psychology Club
Information/1st Meeting
Minutes
January 23rd & 24th 2008

Meeting Called to Order at 5:30 pm.

Explained what PSI CHI is and what we do. PSI CHI is dedicated to the furtherance of scholarship and study in psychology.

Events:
-January, recruiting.
-Applications are due the end of February.
-February, tentative “bake-sale” for Valentine’s Day by selling cookie bouquets.
-March, Induction and Subs with the Profs (we already have a few faculty lined up for this event)
-April, Autism Month and Faculty Feud!!
-We are going to be set up in the mall area spreading the awareness of Autism to the
Student Body and also selling awareness shirts that will be created from sponsors.
**Please pick up a Sponsor form from me (Jessica, President). One form from every
member would be more than enough.

Extras:
-“Fieldtrip” to near-by facilities. (If interested in specific area of Psychology that you would like
to check out, let us know)
-Conferences (coming up quickly)
-GRE Practice Sessions!!!! [In the works]
-Book Exchange between members through Blackboard Class “PSI CHI”
-This can help each individual enormously!
-Alumni Speaker [hoping for]
-Graduate School Speaker
-Professor Speakers

Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at about 5:35 pm.

Krystal (Secretary)

Announced about card for Dr. Wilson and money collection.
Invited everyone up to get pizza and/ or fruit
Passed around sign in sheet

Jessica (President)

Asked if we had new applicants and passed out applications to those who were there
Brief overview of the semester:
- Ask who may want to help create cookie bougets for Valentine's Day
- March - induction ceremoney & subs with the profs
- April - Faculty Feud

Marisol (Social Chair)

Spoke about possible field trips & asked about interest
TLU Conference - March 8 Near San Antonio
- If you are interested, contact Marisol or Laura
- Would anyone be interested in making it a fun trip by going to Schlitterbahn or the outlet malls?
- Trying to get local researchers her that SHSU to submit their presentations so we can have someone representing SHSU
GRE practice sessions

We also had questions about getting chords for graduation. We are going to check into getting the Psychology department to pay for them, but if that doesn't work out you can order from the Psi Chi website without a chapter password. Just put the stuff in your shopping cart and then when it asks about the chapter password at check out, there will be a place for you to choose to order from the public (or something to that affect). Click on that and it will let you print out the order form. Then mail it in with your payment.

Mentioned the movie viewing (film is about Alzheimer's) need either volunteers to help or a group to go and watch it.

Meeting adjourned at about 6:15pm

A group stayed and played pictionary! It was a lot of fun! Hopefully more will stay next time!

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER…

1st welcome everyone, then talk about Psi Chi:

TOPICS…

-Dues and application deadline coming up Feb. 29th!!!

-See if any Interested Members who turned in application is present to fill out a registration card!

-Talked about conference coming up TLU Seguin on March 8th!!!
Talked about car-pooling and what to after wards…

-**Autism Month (Laura’s mention/idea)… collect donations and distribute info on awareness…
Each member try and get a donation w/ these forms and we can make neat colorful shirts
to sell for between $5-10 and donate to the Autism Foundation. The sponsors get names and/or logo on back of T-shirt.
