Tra Thomas

Executive Student Director

Senior, Kinesiology

Fun Fact: I LOVE Bubbilicious Bubble Gum and desire nothing more than a cup of Sonic ice.

My name is A'Traviya "Tra" Thomas, and I am from Denton, TX. I am a senior majoring in Kinesiology with a math minor and will be graduating in December 2011. I will continue in school and begin my masters degree in Sports Management during Spring 2012. In addition to being the Executive Director for Program Council, I am the President of Sam Mentors and the Membership Chair for NAACP. During the summer, I coach an AAU girls basketball team. Once I have finished my master's, I will be pursuing my dream of becoming a Head Basketball Coach and teaching Math. My favorite color is red, and I love to be HAPPY!!!

 

 

Lori Brooks

Director for Marketing & Public Relations

Lori Brooks was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. Her dad serves in the U.S. Navy andshe was privileged to live in various states and countries. As a true Bearkat, she believes that one can achieve their full potential by being actively involved on campus. Lori is currently the Director for Marketing & Public Relations. A future activist for social change, she serves as an a senator within the Student Government Association and is the current Public Relations Committee Chief. With her passion for helping other people, she volunteers at the SAAFE House and fully believes in their philanthropic effors. Lori is a an advocate for diversity and embracing new cultures. She encourages everyone to go and live abroad at least once in their lifetime; living amongst a culture other than your own, brings understanding of the world and illuminates the fact that we all share the same feelings and depictions on life.

 

Zach Crowder

Director for Retention

Junior, Criminal Justice & Pre-Law

Fun Fact: I was once on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" ... at Disneyland but it still counts.

 

Since coming to Sam in the fall of 2009, I have been involved with the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, just recently being promoted from Vice President to President. I became a member of the PC family last year when I held the position of Entertainment Chair; I enjoyed the organization so much that I came back to serve as the Director of Retention on the Executive Board! I am a dedicated and devoted Bearkat striving to make this campus as engaged and enjoyable as possible.

Olivia Milam

Fun Fact: I consider myself and extreme music fiend! I listen to EVERYTHING!!

I am a fun loving, outgoing, and friendly person!  I enjoy meeting new people, having fun with my friends, listening to music, and living the college life.  I am currently the Entertainment Co-Chair for Program Council, Co-Executive Director for Diversity Council, and an active member of ACT 1.  I am a dedicated Bearkat that absolutely loves my school.  Eat Em' Up Kats!!!!!

Michael "Mic" Oyeteju

Academic Correspondence Chair

Junior, Psychology

Fun Fact: I don't like not being busy.

 

Mic is a hard-working, loyal individual who cares a lot about the things in which he is involved. Mic enjoys helping out others even if that means forgetting about himself from time to time. He first came to Sam Houston in the spring of 2010, and immediately got involved with one of the best orgs on campus (that's right, it's PC!) while being a full time student, pledging LAE, and joining ASA. In the fall of 2010, he was elected to SGA and began to serve the student body in that forum. He is involved in the community performing both community service and volunteering around town through each organization accumulating over 25 service hours. Additionally, he volunteers his money and time to the community of New Orleans, LA assisting their head start programs through Break Away’s Alternative Spring Break program, which he recommends to everyong. Being a member PC, he stays involved in his other orgs as well as maintaining good grades.

Le'Antranell "Lee Lee" Gipson

Education Chair

Sophomore, Political Science

 

 

Le'Antranell Gipson is from Houston, Texas. She is now a sophomore at Sam Houston State University. Currently, Le'Antranell is the Health Chair for Unit 6816 in the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and a College of Humanities and Social Sciences Senator for the Student Government Association. Le'Antranell's time at SHSU is spent pursuing a degree in Political Science with a minor in Secondary Education, with the goal of ultimately working in Public Administration. Her hobbies include shopping, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Christopher Kha

Multicultural Co-Chair

Senior, Criminal Justice

 

Chris will be graduating in Spring 2012. Chris is a life-long Bearkat that comes from Dallas, Tx. During his time at SHSU, Chris has maintained a job at Footlocker for five years in addition to working with RecSports as a supervisor for the past 4 years. Chris is also a member of Alpha Nu Delta, Inc., ASA, NABCJ, and an intramural sports supervisor.

Tamara Lumsden

Multicultural Co-Chair

Sophomore, Criminal Justice

Fun Fact: I'm from Trinidad and Tobago, having lived there for 14 years before moving to Houston, TX.

 

I am a fun-loving, passionate, and intelligent person, who loves to meet new people and experience new ideas. I am the new Multicultural Co-Chair of Program Council,  Programming Chair of Caribbean Student Organization, and and a dedicated member of Project Sunshine. I have a lot of school spirit and am excited about being a Bearkat!!

Raeauna "Rae" Bowen

Spirit & Traditions Chair

Junior, Family & Consumer Sciences

Fun Fact: I am the owner of a small business, Simply Sweet Accessories & More! I make custom hair bows, hair acessories, and hand painted items among a variety of products!

 

This is my first year as a Program Council Board Member! I am also the Secretary of the Exquisite Theta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, The Vice-President of Royalty, and the Co-Executive Director for the SHSU Diversity Council. I am a very proud Bearkat and love attending Sam Houston! I encourage every student to get involved in at least one organization during your time here on campus. And always remember: Let your smile change the world, But never let the world change your smile :) Eat'em Up Kats!!

Nydia Caldwell

Social Chair

Junior, Criminal Justice

Fun Fact: My FAVORITE cartoon is Betty Boop!

 

 

 

Nydia is extremely outgoing and loves to live life to its fullest. She loves being creative in all things, and thinks it is very important to have an optimistic outlook on life. Nydia also serves as the fundraising chair for the National Association of Blacks in Cirminal Justice. This is Nydia's first year on the Program Council board where she serves as their amazing Social Chair.
