Preliminary Article on a Ponchielli Band Critical Edition

This is an online musicology journal from the musicology school of the University of Pavia that is located in Cremona. It presents an early attempt to examine critical concerns related to making a critical edition of selected music for band by Ponchielli. It is in English and also is an early attempt to present these materials digitally.

Museo Ponchielliano

This is a link to the webpage of a tiny museum that is located on the site of Ponchielli's birthplace in Paderno Ponchielli. Among the interesting items here is the sabre he had to wear as capobanda in Cremona. The museum is supervised by Luigi Noci who also serves as the town librarian.

Banda Musicale di Soncino

Located just north of Cremona, the town of Soncino has had an excellent band for many years. Under the direction of Luca Valenti, they have prepared two recordings of Ponchielli's band music with Gabriele Cassone and Steven Mead as soloists.
