Leaders aren't born they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. In Lambda Chi Alpha, here at Sam Houston State University, it is up to each one of us to ask ourselves how Lambda Chi Alpha values coincide with ours and why we swore into it in the first place. This is a question we constantly ask ourselves. It is self control, it is about remembering who we are. Sometimes we sacrifice things that serve no purpose other than fun, for a greater good to society. Because we were taught and raised with these values, and now, we belong to a society (LCA) that cherishes all that we learn. At the Sigma Mu Chapter, we are in a mission to raise bars and change our society into a better one. We claim our votes, our opinion matters, and with that power we attempt to change things the way we feel is best for all. We live by the following final words of our oath into Associate Membership: "...I accept the obligations with which I was charged before I entered the chapter room without reservation or evasion. I will strive with the help of God to be true to the ideals and objectives of Lambda Chi Alpha. To which I pledge my oath and faith, in accordance with the Christian teachings of this Ritual, and as a gentleman. For the least violation, I invoke upon myself expulsion, suspension, or other lawful penalty. So help me God!"
