Article II: Classification A. Probationary Member Status 1. Probationary Members are those applicants that meet all the required qualifications for membership under Article I(A) (1-5) and have started the application procedures under Article I(B)(1-5). 2. Probationary Members may not vote, nominate, be a nominee, or hold an office or committee chair. B. Active Participant Member Status 1. Those members of the fraternity who have paid all current dues and assessments to Delta Chi and to the Grand Chapter or are on a payment plan with the Treasurer. Active Participant Members will be required to meet all of the qualifications for membership under Article I. 2. Active Participant Members shall be qualified to vote, nominate a candidate, be a nominee, hold an office or committee chair in the fraternity. C. Social Affiliate Member Status 1. Those members who have paid all current dues and assessments to Delta Chi and Grand Chapter or are on a payment plan approved by the Treasurer. Social Affiliate Members will be required to meet all qualifications for membership under Article I except where noted below. A member seeking this status must submit a written notice to the Sergeant at Arms. The member seeking this status must be a member in good standing. 2. The Sergeant at Arms along with the Membership Committee may grant a member Social Affiliate Status if the member falls under one of the following two categories: a) In service personnel are exempt from the participation requirements under Article I(D)(1-2) if their work or class load would reasonably prevent them from maintaining these requirements. b) Members are exempt from the participation requirements under Article I(D)(1-2) if their work or class load would reasonably prevent them from maintaining these requirements. 3. Social Affiliate Members shall not be qualified to vote, nominate, be a nominee, or hold an office or committee chair. D. Inactive Member Status 1. Must meet all qualifications for membership under Article I. 2. Must pay all current dues and assessments to Delta Chi and the Grand Chapter or are on a payment plan set up for economical reasons and approved by the Treasurer. 3. Must submit written notice to the Sergeant at Arms. 4. Members are allowed one inactive semester per year and cannot go inactive more than three times as a member of Delta Chi. 5. Inactive Members cannot vote, nominate, be a nominee, or hold an office or committee chair. 6. Inactive Members cannot participate in any events sponsored by Delta Chi. E. Expulsion of Members 1. Any member of Delta Chi who shall be guilty of any dishonest conduct, criminal or fraudulent act, or who shall act in a manner as to discredit the fraternity, shall be considered for expulsion by the Membership Committee. 2. Any member who acts on behalf of Lambda Alpha Epsilon or the Delta Chi chapter without authorization to do so by the Executive Committee of the Grand Chapter and/or Delta Chi, shall be considered for expulsion by the Membership Committee. 3. Any person who continually obstructs the normal and/or smooth function of this organization shall be considered for expulsion. 4. In order for a member to be expelled, a majority of all the members of the Membership Committee must vote for expulsion. The Vice President will only vote in the event of a tie. If there is a majority vote for expulsion, the case will be brought before the general membership. A quorum must be present. The member may be expelled only if there is 2/3 majority vote for expulsion. F. Suspended Member Status 1. Those members who have failed to meet the participation requirements under Article I(D)(1-2). 2. The suspension period will last for one month during the regular semester. 3. During the suspension period the Suspended Member must attend 90% of all general business meetings. The suspended Member must attend 75% of all other official L.A.E. functions. 4. Failure to meet the participation requirements under Suspended Member Status will result in being removed from the Delta Chi chapter roll. G. Member in Good Standing 1. Those members who have paid all current dues and assessments to Delta Chi and to the Grand Chapter or are on a payment plan set up for economical reasons approved by the Treasurer. 2. Those members who meet all the membership requirements designated under their membership status. H. Alumni Member Status 1. Alumni members are those people who were once an Member in Good Standing of the Delta Chi chapter, but are not currently a member. 2. To be an Alumni Member the former member must have completed their bachelor degree from an accredited university. 3. Alumni Members may not vote, nominate, be a nominee, or hold an office or committee chair. 4. Alumni Members shall not be responsible for any annual dues to the Delta Chi, but shall be welcome to attend any events sponsored by the Delta Chi. 5. The current whereabouts and accomplishments of Alumni members shall be kept on record by the Alumni/Historian Committee.
