Caribbean Karma

Heated in our skin
of brown, sugar, cacao,
and cinnamon,
we sat cross-legged under the
moonlit sky with our
backs against the tree.
After a while, we shed
our skirts and head wraps,
our tresses
and our girlish
laughter lingering in the night.
We splashed water on
each other, shaking our locks,
shrieking as we chased each
other to the water's edge.
The night sky brightened
under the guise of our
Caribbean karma.
