Contemporary Latin Poetry
This page is now available as a pagina in lingua Latina
scripta.
This page is meant to be a jumping-off point for examples of modern (aka 20th
and 21st century) Latin verse as well as information about such things as
scansion, poetic style, and anything else that seems related.
If you're looking for an index to general info on Latin and the Classics, I
refer you to Yahoo.

Notes
- As of June 8, 1999, all of the poems are first converted to XML
(eXtensible Markup Language) files, which I then convert to HTML files with a
program. This means that I can more easily make changes to the entire site. I
am actually working on some of those now. If you have any suggestions on how
to improve the site, please let me know.
- I use circumflexes instead of macrons. If your browser cannot read
circumflexes, please follow the links marked "no macrons." On the other hand,
if your browser can display Unicode entities, follow the links marked "true
macrons."
- Thanks to Gundega Korsts, who pointed out that Roma Ryan is the author of
Enya's lyrics.
- I have a lot of housekeeping to do. Bear with me if you have sent me
something and I haven't added it yet.
- Many Latin poems use just their first words as a title, so the title of a
poem is not guaranteed to reflect the theme of the poem.
- I am now using Gildersleeve and Lodge's Latin Grammar, still in print from
Thomas Nelson and Sons. (I was impressed.)
- Thanks to Ralph Aulenta, who found a satisfactory solution to the problem
of indenting lines. ( , if you're interested.)
