Discover Your Strengths

About the Program

Discover Your Strengths is a workshop for students who are interested in learning more about their natural strengths and talents. Participants take the Clifton StrengthsFinder inventory, prior to attending the workshop, to learn their top 5 StrengthsQuest Themes of Talent. Knowledge of these talents allows students to learn how best to lead themselves in order to be prepared to lead others. The workshop will be interactive, energetic, useful, and resource-based where students will learn more about themselves and others in order to facilitate the achievement of academic, career, and personal success.

Attending a Discover Your Strengths workshop will help you:

• Understand and affirm your Top 5 StrengthsQuest Themes of Talent
• Gain an understanding of the Strengths philosophy and background
• Develop an appreciation for the strengths in others

LSC - Lowman Student Center (SHSU Main Campus) 

TWC - The Woodlands Center (SHSU Woodlands Campus)

Registration Information

Participation is limited to the first 20 students that register, and attendance at the workshop is mandatory. Students will be emailed prior to the workshop with instructions on how to take the Clifton StrengthsFinder inventory. If a student completes the inventory, but fails to attend the workshop, they may be asked to reimburse the Center for Leadership & Service for the cost of the inventory.

Submit completed registration forms to the Center for Leadership & Service, LSC 324, or TWC One Stop Center at least 2 business days before scheduled workshop date. Your participation will be confirmed through the e-mail address you provide on your registration form. If you have any questions please contact Meredith Conrey at (936) 294-3467 or by email at cls@shsu.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to register to attend the workshop?

Yes. You must register in order to attend. Registration forms are available in the Center for Leadership & Service, LSC 324, at TWC One Stop Center, or online at the link provided above. The deadline to register is 2 business days before a scheduled workshop.

Do I have to be a student to register for a workshop?

Yes. You must be currently enrolled at Sam Houston State University.

How much does it cost to attend the Discover Your Strengths workshop?

The workshop is FREE to currently enrolled SHSU students.

What should I do if I register and then realize I cannot attend?

You should email or call the Center for Leadership and Service, in advance, to notify us that you will not be in attendance. Students who do not attend the workshop may be asked to reimburse the Center for Leadership & Service for the cost of the Clifton StrengthsFinder inventory.
