To work towards the revitalization of downtown Huntsville by economic development, promotion and events along with infrastructure improvements.

Volunteer Opportunities: Help weekly by watering plants and scrap booking. Special events include Spring Clean in April, Airing of the Quilts in May, Farmers Market May through September, Fair on the Square and Scare on the Square in October and Downtown Christmas Fair in December.

Mission/Purpose

To provide programs and services in an effort to assist with the agency's mission to provide public safety, promote positive change in offender behavior, to reintegrate offenders into society and assist victims of crime.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Areas of Interest: Chaplaincy Department, Parole Department, Substance Abuse, Sex Offender Treatment Program, Victim Services, Windham School District, Reentry and Reintegration, Office of General Counsel, State Counsel for Offenders and Administrative.

Offender Programs: Participate/Facilitate specialty (ie: organized sports), rehabilitation and spiritual growth programs, reentry programs, family programming (ie: A Day with Dad/Mom), AA/NA, Twelve-step programs, GED, Parenting classes, Adult Basic Education, Pre-Employment skills, Victim Impact Panel and Victim-Offender Mediation/Dialogue.

Mission/Purpose

We resale donated clothing and household items at low prices and many are given to the needy. Profits are used to pay for prescription drugs for needy Trinity County residents. Other profits go to local organizations such as the Loaves and Fishes Food Bank, Senior Center and House of Hope.

Volunteer Opportunities: Help sort, hang or display donations and help keep the store neat and organized.

Conroe

Montgomery County Emergency Assistance

Mission/Purpose

To help families experiencing a temporary crisis with food, clothing, rent and utility assistance.  We offer a Hand Up to self-suffieciency through programs, services, and individual service plans to help move individuals into self-sufficiency. 

Volunteer Opportunities:

Resale Shop: Help customers (2 hour shifts - Tuesday-Saturday)

Odds and Ends Clearance Shop: (2 hour shifts - Monday-Friday)

Sorting Warehouse: Sort donations (2 hour shifts - Monday-Friday)

Food Pantry: Help clients individually with food.  Clients are allowed to choose both refrigerated and dry food. (2 hour shifts - Tuesday-Friday)

Special Events:

  • July 4th - Annual Duck Race.  Volunteers needed to assist in pool and sell rubber duck donations up to 3pm. 
  • October 18th - Texian Heritage Festival in Montgomery.  Old West festival with potato sack races, kids games, crafts, shoot-outs, cannons, food, and vendors.  100 volunteers needed!

To successfully transition women into society after incarceration. We work to establish a community of women who respect themselves and each other, and who are working for their own empowerment as well as the empowerment of their families and each other.

Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers assist with organizing clothing closet, gardening and yard work, light maintenance and repairs. We are always in need of volunteers willing to work one on one with clients to assist with computer skills, literacy and math skills.
