Who We Are

Alpha Chi is a general honor society that admits students from all academic disciplines. Membership is limited to the top 10 percent of juniors and seniors. Membership is by invitation only, at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semester of every year. Membership is granted through Sam Houston State University.

Texas Omicron Chapter History
The Texas Omicron Chapter began here at SHSU in 1923, and it is believed that the organization may be the oldest on campus. As the fifteenth chapter in the nation, our chapter has remained stonrg, receiving countless honors including the Star Chapter Award every year since the program began. It has also received the Gaston Regional Award for Region II, an honor that our current president John deveau won along with the chapter's local scholarship.

Membership is based upon the combined GPA of the student from all colleges or universities. If the student is a transfer, and his/her GPA is lower then it is calculated toward Alpha Chi. If higher, then it is not. The student must have a combined GPA of 3.7 as a junior and 3.6 as a senior.

If you have any questions regarding membership please contact Dr. Patricia Williams.
