About

Welcome to the Sam Houston State University Student Chapter of Association of Information Technology Professionals. The Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) is a national organization consisting of “an elite network of Information Technology professionals, educators, and students dedicated to continuing education, professional growth, leadership, and the exploration of issues that face the IT industry.”* The SHSU Student Chapter is member of the AITP Region 3, which includes other professional and student chapters from New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Southern Mississippi.

The SHSU Student Chapter is here to inform companies about Management Information Systems (MIS) students and the program at Sam Houston State University. We also assist members in preparation for employment in MIS and IT related fields, as well as raise awareness within Sam Houston about the MIS program.

Throughout the school year, our chapter holds meetings every other week where we try to bring in guest speakers from prospective companies. Members of our chapter annually attend the AITP Region 3 Student Conference in October and the AITP National Collegiate Conference in March, where they have many networking and employment opportunities. As a student organization at SHSU, we also hold 1-2 socials every semester which allows members to make friends with other students with the same majors and interests.

If you would like to join or get more information about AITP at SHSU, please feel free to contact one of the officers or attend a bi-weekly meeting.
